Weight Loss Hypnosis Auckland
Learning Self Hypnosis
Most people have seen stage hypnotists, either live here in Auckland or on TV, where members of the audience volunteer to be hypnotised by the hypnotist and then do exactly as the hypnotist says.
So can the same be acheived with Self Hypnosis ?
Well the fact is that all hypnosis is self hypnosis, the subject must allow themselves to be hypnotised and move to a deeper mental state which allows communication with the subconscious.
The Hypnotist simply helps the subject get to that state, which most people are not practiced at reaching by themselves.
In the case of therapeutic hypnosis, often referred to as Hypnotherapy, it is important that the subject understands that a trance is not being induced or controlled by the Hypnotist, but by themselves.
A belief that the Hypnotherapist “controls” the hypnosis can actually prevent the subject from allowing the state of “Trance” to be reached and thus prevent effective treatment.
This blockage can also be an issue in Self Hypnosis programs, which are often performed with the aid of audio recordings, sometimes addressing specific issues and sometimes with a very general nature.
Learning Self Hypnosis can be very effective for people under stress or experiencing anxiety, perhaps due to problems at work, with their relationships or due to monetary problems.
By practicing Self Hypnosis, the subject is able to instantly recall a relaxed and stress free state and have their body enter that state, relieving the stress of the current situation.
In NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, the technique of “Anchoring” ties the relaxed state to a particular physical action, such as clasping the fingers in a certain way. In this way, the relaxed state, once programmed by self hypnosis, can be entered into instantly, on demand.
In general, when in a hypnotic trance, Stress will not be allowed to exist, so by entering into a trance state, the strain and anxiety will be dispersed.
It has been shown that even a brief time in a hypnotic state allows the disconnection from the cause of stress and anxiety, allowing better management of the the situation one the trance has been exited, usually with a clearer mind and in a state better suited to creating a resolution.
“Self Hypnosis” is also an effective method of continuing therapy that may have been performed by a hypnotherapist in their office. The Hypnotherapist will assist the entering of a trance state and make carefully chosen suggestions, which the subject can continue reinforcing, increasing the effectiveness.
A major aspect of hypnosis is the state of relaxation it provides, for some this can be very deep and has an added benefit of producing a better sleep. As the subject becomes more practiced, the hypnosis allows effective power naps. These Power Naps are simply the process of 5 to 10 minute self hypnosis followed by a thirty to 60 minute nap!
As already stated, All Hypnosis is Self Hypnosis. A hypnotist is simply a guide and it is the subject who is doing all the work, with the hypnotist leading them into the hypnotic state.
While it is possible to learn about and practice self hypnosis on your own, perhaps using a self hypnosis recording, in the initial stages it is advisable to work with a certified hypnotist who understands how to teach self hypnosis and can provide personal guidance in the same way as a personal fitness trainer might. For example, the hypnotist may show the subject how they can quickly reach a trance state with 3 simple steps: take three deep breaths, allow the eyes to close and repeating a chosen word 3 times.
By practicing this 4 – 5 times a day initially for the first couple of weeks, the process will soon become automatic and allow quick entry to a trance state.
